A student-led campaign to break the stigma surrounding mental health and create safe spaces for students of all ages to talk about their feelings, seek help, and shine bright!
My name is Noah and I'm a bilingual, student leader who wants to create safe spaces where kids of all ages can talk about their feelings. The Mental Shine campaign is a bridge - connecting students with their parents and educators to create a safe space for discussing mental and emotional well-being. By empowering open conversations about mental health, the campaign aims to address critical challenges like anxiety, depression, and suicide among students.
Starting as early as elementary school, the campaign would help normalize discussions about mental health, helping students feel comfortable seeking support without fear of judgment from anyone. Creating a network of caring adults and peers guides students throughout their journey, prioritizing their overall wellness and resilience.
The ultimate goal is to make talking about mental health as natural as discussing sports or fashion. By destigmatizing these important conversations, the Mental Shine campaign will transform the culture in our schools and communities.
How can I help promote Youth Mental Health Awareness from a students perspective? Well, I can share my MENTAL SHINE journey as a
What's Your Mental Shine?
My Mental Shine is.....
Bright-Feeling happy, calm, motivated, and energetic.----I FEEL GOOD!!!!
Dim-Feeling a little down, stressed, anxious, or frustrated.-----I FEEL BLAH!!!
Dark--Feeling overwhelmed, hopeless, angry, or scared.-----I FEEL BAD!!!!
Creating ways a student grades K-12 can express what they are feeling even if they cannot name it. Connecting them with a mental health specialist can move them forward on their mental health journey.
The Youth Mental Health campaign, What's Your Mental Shine is founded on the idea to create safe spaces for students K-12 to talk openly about how they feel. Sometimes kids feel more comfortable talking to their friends so let's create shine clubs that normalize conversations that advocate for improving everyone's mental health.
